We touched down in Singapore on Sunday night of the 19th October at about 9.15pm on Singapore Airlines SQ919 from Manila. The flight was good, Nina was good. As usual, she sat and buckled the seatbelt by herself. I heard her saying “bye bye Manila” and then she said, “later, Nina say hello Singapore?”.
We had 100kg of excess baggage ! Fortunately, my friend Indra travelled on the same flight and helped us throughout with our boxes and luggages from the Manila airport until we reached home in Singapore at about 10pm.
On the first night, Nina stayed up until 1am, because she was waiting for her mommy who could not sleep yet and still doing some unpacking. I unpacked a little bit, but slept earlier as I had bad cold and felt very tired.
Nina has been adjusting well. She does not have problem sleeping at all. She has her own room now, the room we prepared for her 2 years ago before we left for Manila. But, her mommy is still sleeping with her as we have not bought the bed guard yet. Once we have the bed guard, we will let her sleep alone in her room. Her room’s walls were painted in two colors, pink and light purple. But as she grows up, the color she likes the most is green.
… Sorry Nina, you need to live with pink and light purple for now.
But, she still thinks that Manila is where her home is. She asked her mom “Is this our temporary home?”
We took her out for dinner on Tuesday to the nearby Simei mall. We took the shuttle bus from our condo and as we left about 5 minutes before its scheduled departure time, we rushed and we ran. I decided to run first so I could ask the driver to wait for Nina and her mom. But, to our surprise, Nina followed me and she was running extremely fast for her age. She was just behind me by few meters and we could not stop laughing after that as it was just hillarious seeing her running that fast. She asked us few times after that : “Nina was the winner?” … thinking that it was a race when we ran.
And yesterday, we took her out again for breakfast at the Bedok Block 85 hawker center. We took the train to Tanamerah. Nina was excited. Once we alighted at Tanamerah station, only one station away from our place, she told her mom about her adventure map. She said, “train … checked. Yesterday .. plane, checked” referring to what she has travelled by so far. From Tanamerah MRT station, we took her to ride a bus (no. 14) to the hawker center. It was only a short ride bus and once we got off the bus, Nina completed her adventure map again by saying “bus .. checked”.
The Bedok Block 85 hawker center was the hawker center near Tanamera Crest, where we lived before when Nina was still a baby. We met the auntie who sells porridge there. When Nina started eating solid food, we gave her lots of fish porridge for breakfast which we bought from her stall. She was pleasantly surprised to see us and more so when seeing that Nina was already much taller than when the last time she saw her.
OK … time for me to catch some sleep now as it’s almost 5am. I just finished installing my home wireless internet network before writing this post.
Will write more later.
