Box, Boxss and Boxes

Nina was creating a robot today that she wanted to give to Toby. Toby is the youngest son of my friend, Wiradhi.

She used an empty gift box as the body of the robot, drew its face on one side and then cut two small pieces of straw to be used as the arms. See the picture here.

She then came to me asking for four little boxes that she needed to use as the legs. Not sure why she needed four legs for the robot. And the conversation went like this:

Nina: “Daddy, can I have four little box please?”
Daddy: “Sorry Nina, I don’t think I have those little boxes”
(I then wanted to correct her English)
Daddy: “Nina, you should say ‘boxes’ instead of ‘box’, because it’s more than one.”
Nina: “Oh, so it’s boxs?”
(She prolonged the sound of the s at the end)
Daddy: “No Nina, it’s boxes”
Nina: “Oh, so we add another s, Daddy?
(I smiled … I liked the logic)
Daddy: “No Nina, it’s boxes”
(She got it finally)
